Birds nesting underneath your Solar PV array can damage the cables or Solar Panels themselves, causing faults. By bird proofing your solar panels you can protect your array. This can be done by installing wire mesh or Solaskirt around the perimeter of your solar panels.
Battery Storage
Adding battery storage to your solar PV system can increase your savings. During winter you can utilise the battery to charge from the grid to take advantage of tariffs which offer cheaper overnight electricity.
Solar Servicing and Maintenance
Solar PV systems are a relatively low maintenance and reliable technology. To keep them performing at optimum level we recommend annually servicing your array. If your panels have stopped working, we will be able fix them. Even if we didn’t install them.
Our procedure for an annual solar PV service:
- Inspect panels for cracks
- Visually inspect mounting framework and fixings
- Check if shading issues have occurred since install
- Check ventilation space under array is unobstructed and DC cables are securely clipped*
- Check all electrical connectors are secure and free from corrosion
- Check enclosures are secure, and IP rating maintained
- Check earthing system is intact, to standard and the insulation of live parts is undamaged
- Inspect inverter is operating correctly and generation meter and inverter readings match
- Check generation meter reading and connections
- Check AC / DC isolators
- Electrical string test and performance test of panels and inverters
- Annual performance data check on generation meter against original calculations

Solar panels are incredibly durable, most manufacturers offer 10 or 12-year product warranties and 25 year performance warranties. Inverters depending on manufacturer carry a 5 or 12 year warranty with an option to extend (Charges Apply). Additionally S-Tec offer a 2 year workmanship warranty.
Your panels will be installed and commissioned by our highly trained roofers and electricians. All team members have solar qualifications.
Yes S-Tec can install batteries to new arrays or retro-fit to existing arrays.
